ALKALI

METHOD

Bring the objective.
We’ll explore what it could become.

The Alkali Method is a focused creative strategy session for organizations considering an artwork, installation, activation, award, gift or other art-forward project—but unsure what form it should take.

Rather than beginning with a predetermined product, we begin with the people you want to reach, the story you want to tell and the result you want to create.

Where organizations get stuck

You know you want to do something creative, but:

  • The idea still feels vague.
  • The usual branded merchandise feels forgettable.
  • You want people to participate, not simply observe.
  • You have a sustainability story but need a tangible way to express it.
  • You have a material, data set, initiative or milestone that could become something more.
  • You need an artist’s perspective before deciding what to make.

That is where the Alkali Method begins.

ART

A distinct visual and material idea—not branding applied to a generic object.

EXPEREINCE

Consideration for how people will encounter, use, share or remember the work.

STRATEGY

A clear connection between the creative direction and your audience, objective, budget and context.

The Alkali Method Session

A two-hour working session that turns an early need, opportunity or rough idea into a clearer creative direction.

Before the session, you will complete a short questionnaire covering your organization, audience, objective, timing and anticipated budget. During the session, we will explore:

  • What the project needs to accomplish
  • Who it needs to reach
  • The story, message or initiative behind it
  • Where and how people will experience it
  • Relevant materials, data, partnerships or waste streams
  • Practical considerations including budget, timing and scale
  • Potential creative directions worth developing

What comes out of the session

Following the session, you will receive a concise Creative Direction Summary outlining:

  • The central project objective
  • Key audience and experience considerations
  • The strongest creative opportunity
  • Recommended format or project direction
  • Relevant material and sustainability considerations
  • Proposed scope, budget range and next steps

The session provides strategic direction only. Finished concepts, renderings, prototypes, artwork and fabrication are part of the commissioned project and are not included in the session.

Investment

The Alkali Method Session is valued at $500.

Complimentary sessions may be offered through select member organizations and partnerships. The complimentary offer applies only to the strategy session. It does not include artwork, awards, gifts, design, materials, fabrication or production.

Projects developed following a session begin at $2,500 + GST. Larger installations, activations and custom fabrication are scoped according to complexity, quantity, materials and delivery requirements.

There is no obligation to proceed with a project after the session.

Best suited for

The Alkali Method works best for organizations exploring:

  • Art installations and commissioned artwork
  • Interactive event activations
  • Custom awards and recognition pieces
  • Corporate or stakeholder gifts
  • Creative expressions of sustainability initiatives
  • Projects using meaningful, reclaimed or organization-specific materials
  • Public-facing experiences that need more than conventional branding

1. Discover

A short conversation confirms the opportunity, timing, budget and fit.

2. Explore

The Alkali Method Session examines the objective through art, experience and strategy.

3. Define

You receive a recommended direction and, where appropriate, a proposal for the project.

4. Create

Once commissioned, Alkali develops the concept, tests materials and produces the final work.

Artist-led.

Strategically grounded.

Alkali Arts combines fine-art thinking, creative strategy, design experience and material experimentation. The result is not a catalogue product with a logo added. It is a project built around what your organization wants people to understand, experience or remember.

Bring the need—not the finished solution.
